Children should be seen and not heard. One of the "maxims" I often heard growing up. Clothe them like dolls, parade them around, and then put them away. No innocence in those little faces there...and the presence of the church in the background is far more sinister than reassuring. As usual, lots going on in the stillness of your composition.
yes i often remind my mom that my daughter is not a show pony (rule#28 for grandparents) :) and lets just say i had a less than reassuring experience at the church of my childhood... so you may have nailed it with sinister. thanks for your thoughtful comments!
