bees are Photoshop brushes I made from bee clip art from the graphics fairy:http://graphicsfairy.blogspot.com/

here is one example:

i use an iMac and have adobe photoshop cs5 so all i had to do to create the brush is select the bee using the rectangular marquee tool and then go to "edit/define brush preset" and then "ok".
